Birds, Quilts & Finding Paradise

Check out these dedicated birders!

Karin, Jackie, Cinda, Wendy and Hillary participate in the Puget Sound Seabird Survey (PSSS). Once a month they monitor the bird population at Fort Flagler. And, of course, they gather on our porch after for coffee, tea and Pane d’Amore pastries.

Test your knowledge of Salilsh Sea birds at the button below. We correctly identified 6 out of 18 birds. Guess we’ll stick to helping customers, making Port Townsend Roasting coffee drinks and stocking shelves!

Apparently Cinda does more than count feathers.

Cinda is a gifted quilter and we were mesmerized by the design and construction of these beauties. We’ve seen a lot of things on our front porch, but an impromptu quilt display was a new one for us!

Couple smiling holding bottles of Guardian Chalkline wine

Meet Katie and Stefan.

These Marrowstone residents are often kayaking, crabbing, beach walking with their pups or crushing their neighbors in a sometimes friendly game of croquet. Their drink of choice? Guardian Chalkline red blend wine. This fan-favorite works equally well for special celebrations and taco Tuesdays!

Ingredients on display for Lemony Greek Chicken, Spinach and Potato Stew

Lemony Greek Chicken, Spinach and Potato Stew for dinner!

We took these simple Nordland General Store ingredients and made a hearty, delicious meal for four in less than 30 minutes. Interested? Come see us for the recipe and ingredients!

We want to know what you’re cookin’! Send us an email and let us know if you make something special with our store ingredients. Maybe you’ll see it in the newsletter!

How lucky are we to have this view right outside our front door?

We’ll take wind storms, rain and power outages for a few minutes of Mystery Bay serenity.

A couple smiling buying groceries

Islanders Shana and Lawrence never miss a Thursday at the Nordland General Store.

It’s the perfect day to load up on cookies and bread from the Chimacum Valley Grainery, organic produce from Red Dog Farms and local Samish Bay yogurt. We love a full shopping basket and we love love love these loyal members.

Tim and Forest the Doberman mix on podium with AKC DCAT ribbon

Check out our team member Tim and his dog Forest!

Forest is a Doberman mix and is pictured here with his AKC DCAT ribbon. Forest’s fastest clocked speed is 28.8 mph. Run Forest Run!

Jon volunteered to mount, frame and hang our new map.

It’s now proudly displayed on the porch to let visitors know they have officially arrived in paradise. Just find the red dot!
